Ok. We all agree that “big business” is here for the money and nothing more. So, when they can’t make big profits by exploiting undocumented workers (who presumably will work for little to nothing), how many of these companies will simply move production over seas? And, when they do, how will that affect our economy?

Nearly 2 years ago, my husband became obsessed with only buying items made in the USA. YOU would be amazed at how few things we could find. Clothing is nearly entirely made elsewhere. We even tried Farm & Fleet (farmer store) and they only have 1 brand (Carthall?) that is made here. WE looked at Wal-mart (thinking they spouted american slogans) and found nothing. Nothing made in the US. what do you think?

If there are no jobs in the US, Immigrants won’t come here looking for work. Also, if US residents don’t have money because they too don’t have jobs, they won’t hire Mexicans for cash to do menial tasks.

If illegal immigration is such a horrible thing because it takes so many jobs then why is outsourcing legal?

I hear people complaining all the time about how evil the big bad illegal Mexicans are but what about the people in India and other places who are taking our jobs? Why should it be legal for them to take our jobs when they don’t even live here, whereas the illegal immigrants do (although illegally)?

Does the fact that outsourcing is legal change the fact that it is taking jobs from American citizens just like illegal immigrants supposedly are?

Why do you think there is more outrage over illegal immigration than outsourcing of jobs?

Is it because if people come here they are utilizing our social services? Is that where the additional outrage comes from?

Do you think that the issue of illegal immigration gets people more upset than outsourcing? Other than the social services, is there any reason why these shouldn’t be equally troubling trends when it comes to job losses?
Ducky: but you’ve got to admit that not everything legal is right and not everything illegal is wrong. Legality aside and looking at the issue in purely utilitarian and practical terms, aren’t these two issues fairly similar?
Ida: Who is “we”? And I am referring to sort of what appears to be a general societal mindset as expressed through the media and many members of this particular forum, not the ideals of my specific social group.
Mares: Worked 12 hours yesterday. Took today off because I was sick. And I wouldn’t call this chatting. :)
Rob: True, and see that’s what I figured, that it had to do with the social service they get.

I wonder, do the low wage countries that we export jobs to also receive foreign aid that helps to fund their educational and health systems? If that’s the case, then does it bring them closer in terms of negative impacts?
Tony: I had not heard about that particular bill, but I have heard about the problems farm owners have had with finding people to take jobs. Greenhouse owners have the same problem.

Forget the nuclear deals, but with the major outsourcing of jobs from America and Europe to India, what do the general public feel. Elevated? Deprived? or Not-bothered?

Godly Reality Check asked:

A. Outsourcing jobs gives American jobs to people of a foreign nation

B. Outsourcing jobs cause a rise in poverty, which raises crime rates and welfare recipients.

C. Outsourcing jobs gives our money to foreign nations from us paying that nation for their goods.

D. Outsourcing jobs lowers land value through poverty.

Anyone want to add to the list?

Seems like the only difference is those illegals are here illegally.
