I am not sure if they do offer extra money for school. However, when I was unemployed I was told by the company that helped me file to not state that I was in school. The reason is because they said if I have time to go to school, I have time to look for a job. Cece 44

In Michigan yes, but your former boss must sign a statement that the reason for your layoff was directly caused by offshoring/outsourcing and many are not willing to do that.

Other parts of the country? I doubt it. Don't you realize our politicians say that this is not a problem? Doesn't it make you feel great to know that you and your future have no value to our government, the same one that rode on your back collecting taxes all these years?

Quietly Americans are losing their jobs, their incomes and their way of life, isn't America grand?

And btw, the idiots in Washington are getting ready to try and lift the limits on H1-B visas so that even more jobs will go to other countries citizens, just this time, the citizens will be living here. Write your congressman and demand that he vote to protect the US workers! Gem

Not really.

There are re-education programs out there that are government funded (usually state, county, or city, not federal.) If you qualify, and they have the budget, they will pay for some retraining to get you back into the workforce.

Check with your local government and you unemployment office. A lot of the time these programs run out of funding about halfway through the year, but if you are one of the lucky ones, you may be able to take some courses. cbmttek
