OffshoreOutsourcingHelp asked:

I am currently managing a few software offshore outsourcing projects, and am the webmaster of http://www.offshoreoutsourcinghelp.com. I love to employ the agile methodology, it is especially fitting as my customers love to change their minds on the requirements.

However, when offshoring, you usually receive fixed-price proposals, for the entire project scope. I would like to know how other managers outsource agile software development. For example, what does the payment breakdown look like? Do you pay for each increment, and if so, how do you avoid the project becoming too costly?

To implement agile methodology when outsourcing software development you need to follow a specific procedure. We maintain a website that offers similar service. In agile development the entire project is broken down into a number of iterations. For each iteration, that typically lasts for not more than three weeks, the complete development process (i.e. planning, designing, coding and testing) is followed thereby minimizing the risk. On completion of each iteration, the software is released to the customer. The feedback received from the customer is then incorporated in the software.
