I was a “victim” of it. I’m not whining, just making the observation that my job was given to someone who doesn’t live in USA, nor does that new employee buy things locally, or contribute to USA taxes. Has employing people on the other side of the planet helped us, or hurt us?
I gave no thumbs-down, only thumbs up. I can’t understand why so many intelligent honest answers get a thumbs-down.

It has hurt and helped us in a way. Because of outsourcing we enjoy cheap products. Really crappy ones but cheap nonetheless… *gives the stink eye to Wallmart* Captain Falcon

As technology advances, the world becomes smaller. Globalization, in particular, the global economy is here to stay. India and China are being hit hard too by this recession, even though those two places are supposedly where all our jobs are going. We need to start thinking more about the human race vs. just being nationalistic. One thing this recession has proved is that we’re all in this together. Our economies are all now irreversibly tied together, so it does no good to talk about pulling the US out of recession without taking a global viewpoint. dnafairy

I would say at least 95%. I have friends that because of NAFTA are loosing their jobs to Mexico. The Company is Freightliner, founded in Portland Oregon, closing here forever.

HAHAHA … It has everything to do with it! May as well get used to the idea that the Baby Boomer’s have already sold us out.

And now that they have done just that, they want US to give them “Universal Healthcare”. It’s just the next step in a long line of greed spawned by just those who drove the economy into a deadend caldasac. George

Ask clinton, he started this whole mess and is trying to blame other people for his screw-up.
I too, am a “victim” of down-sizing. If osama obama keeps up with the trend then then country will be a welfare state under UN control. madhounddog04

    Probably 0.

(Most of the outsourcing took place years ago — so anyone still unable to find a job would have been bumped from the unemployment rolls long ago.) Another Day Another Dollar

Millions of US jobs have been lost to outsourcing. Outsourcing was practiced by a very large number of
large US Corporations as well as Foreign Corporations doing business in the USA. These large Businesses wanted to cut costs and boost their bottom line and the practice was encouraged by the Bush Administration. In addition this huge problem took a back seat during the
recent Presidential Election Campaign and, in my opinion, that is due to a largely uneducated Electorate. fatsausage
